Sometimes I have to sit on photographs. Just muse on them for awhile, to try to see what I want to do with them. There’s the straightforward photo. Minimal edits, then there’s a multitude of ways I can go artistically. Last November I had a photoshoot with this wonderful gentle soul, Alicia, that is a massage therapist in my building. One of the most genuine people I’ve ever met and is beautiful to boot. I’ve been sitting on these photographs since. I’ve played with them now and then, I’ve made various abstracts of them:
I love Alicia’s tattoo on her left shoulder (“Be your own kind of Beautiful”), they are words that we should all live by and I want to make them the centerpiece of some of her portraits. As you can see I haven’t quite figured out what I want to do with that one yet… more musing to commence…
In the meantime, I’ve been working through her other photographs and I keep remembering our photoshoot, Alicia is so delightful I just can’t stand it! She was adorably nervous when she came in to the studio but we got into the groove and we took some lovely photos, she was kind enough to let me take photographs of her tattoos for a personal project I began working on this year. (She also told me what fabulous hair color she uses!) Here are some of the ones that I’ve finished:
Thank you, Alicia! I had a wonderful time taking your
photograph and spending my morning with you! We should do
it again outside this summer with you being your zen self and
we’ll make posters for your business!
